Intro

red and green network

Trading across blockchains is slow, expensive, and a complete hassle. Your options to swap really aren't great:

  • Call your buddy, ask if they want to swap tokens, and initiate the swaps manually.
  • Transfer your tokens to a Centralized Exchange (CEX), swap with high fees and bad exchange rates, then move your tokens to a wallet you own on the new network.
  • Pick your favorite bridge, swap your tokens for the token they wrap, move tokens to their vault, wait for a wrapped token to be minted on the other chain, have it sent to your address, pick your favorite DEX on that network, and, finally, swap to the currency you want on the new network.

On top of all of this, CEXs own your tokens while they are in custody and wrapped tokens can have far-reaching, catastrophic impact on unrelated networks if they are hacked/exploited or if the corresponding blockchain dies (e.g. Luna/Terra). We know there's a better way.

When you want to swap for a token on a different network, you should be able to swap directly for that currency. The Cross Block Protocol is a traditional, Decentralized Exchange (DEX) using an Automated Market Maker (AMM) with a reserve on each chain. Just like these dexes, our prices are determined by the ratio of currencies in each reserve and these reserves can be filled by liquidity providers on both chains.
